Sarah Gross, Graduate Student

Sarah is a graduate student interested in speciation genetics, transposable elements, and evolutionary theory.  She is currently focusing on optimizing transgenesis in model and non-model Drosophila species, with the goal of more efficiently investigating hybrid incompatibility between Drosophila melanogaster and D. simulans.  She is also interested in the differential behavior, regulation, and spatial distribution of transposable elements in Drosophila hybrids, and their possible role in hybrid dysgenesis.
